About Shamanviolin

Shamanviolin is a unique one-man-band by composer-ethnomusicologist Tuomas Rounakari. He accesses various trance-states while playing his violin, accompanied by ankle-bells and vocals. In this concert he also plays the traditional string instrument called ning-juh from the Khanty people from Siberia. Tuomas Rounakari is also known from the Finnish folk-metal band Korpiklaani.

Pauanne Concert

This Shamanviolin concert was filmed at the magical Pauanne where a community of folk musicians and folk healers used to live in the 1980’s. All buildings are fully hand made with many mythological decorations. The place has unfortunately decayed without much needed preservation. The concert ends with lament melodies in a burnt down sauna. The magic and unique beauty of this place is still strong. A perfect environment for my music.
